我在使用TortoiseGit时在Windows上得到了这个错误。重新安装Git for Windows，并通过重新运行第一次开始向导告诉TortoiseGit Git .exe的路径，解决了这个问题。
如果这个问题是在通过github命令行实用程序绑定到github时发生的，那么这个问题很可能是由于使用了gh的snap版本。
如果你可以用git clone克隆而没有得到这个错误，那么问题是gh的snap版本。

只需卸载git并重新安装即可。
#apt-get remove --purge git-svn git-core
#rm /usr/local/bin/git
#apt-get install git-svn git-core
